And the best part: it's super easy to get around the country, enjoy Moroccan food, and have an intense and unforgettable experience. Come with me on this Morocco and Spain itinerary that will leave you wanting to pack your bags right now!

Why make a stopover in Morocco?

Morocco is a unique destination: a vibrant blend of Arab-Berber tradition, French influence, and cinematic landscapes. From chaotic markets to hidden palaces, every corner has a story.

In addition, Royal Air Maroc offers a free stopover in Casablanca — meaning you can visit up to three cities in Morocco before continuing your journey to Europe, all on the same ticket.

Useful information about Morocco

Currency : Moroccan Dirham (MAD)

• Average exchange rate: 1 USD ≈ 10 MAD (may vary)

Example of prices :

• Simple meal: US$ 4 to 6

• Full dinner: US$ 10 to 20

• Coffee or juice: US$ 1.50

• Train between cities: US$ 5 to 20

Official languages : Arabic and Berber. French is widely spoken, and many tourists understand English.

System of government : Constitutional monarchy, with a king (Mohammed VI) and a prime minister.

Internet : I recommend using a travel eSIM , such as Wavee, to ensure connectivity from the airport.

First stop: Casablanca (1–2 days)

The country's largest city may be more modern than charming, but it's worth a stop. The highlight is the Hassan II Mosque , one of the largest in the world, with its 210-meter minaret on the waterfront.

What to do in Casablanca :

• Guided tour of the Hassan II Mosque

• Lunch or dinner at the iconic Rick's Café (inspired by the movie "Casablanca")

• Walk along the Corniche , the seaside promenade.

Where to stay : Casablanca has good international hotels, but since the stay is short, it's worth opting for practicality.

Marrakesh: the heart of Morocco (3–4 days)

Marrakech is a sensory explosion: colors, sounds, flavors, and smells. The city is intense and wonderful—and definitely one of the country's must-see destinations.

Marrakesh
Marrakesh

What to do in Marrakech :

• Getting lost in the souk (traditional market)

• Watch the activity in Jemaa el-Fna Square at night

• Visit the Jardin Majorelle and the Yves Saint Laurent museum

• Relax in a hammam (traditional Moroccan bath)

• Eat at Nomad , Café des Épices or on the rooftop of Le Jardin

Where to stay: Riad or hotel?

Staying in a Riad is part of the experience! They are traditional houses with internal courtyards, personalized service, and a magical vibe. But if you're looking for more standardized comfort, there are good hotels too. A Riad is more intimate and typical; a hotel is more practical.

Rabat: the charming capital (2 days)

The country's capital is less touristy, but it surprises with its elegance and tranquility. It's where tradition and modernity coexist well.

    Rabat
Rabat

What to do in Rabat :

• Stroll through the Kasbah of the Oudaias

• Visit the Mausoleum of Mohammed V and the Hassan Tower

• Stroll through the modern city center and have a coffee in Agdal

Where to eat :

Dar Rbatia : traditional atmosphere and delicious food

Le Dhow : restaurant-bar inside a boat, overlooking the river.

How to get around between cities in Morocco

The Moroccan train system (ONCF) is efficient, inexpensive, and comfortable. It's worth booking in advance through the official website.

• Casablanca → Marrakesh: 2h30

• Marrakesh → Rabat: 3h30

• Rabat → Casablanca (to catch the flight): 1 hour 20 minutes

When in doubt, go first class , especially if you have luggage.

Extension to Spain: the perfect bonus

After Morocco, it's time to cross the Mediterranean in style. Royal Air Maroc connects Casablanca to Madrid, Barcelona, Malaga, Valencia and other Spanish cities with direct flights.

Check out our tips for Madrid.

You can create a circular route:

Brazil → Morocco (stopover) → Spain → Brazil

or

Brazil → Spain → Morocco (stopover) → Brazil

Connected from start to finish with international eSIM.

Throughout the trip, I used an international eSIM from Wavee , which I activated before boarding. It was essential for ordering taxis, using maps, converting currencies, booking tours, and posting all my stories in the Souks of Marrakech without relying on Wi-Fi.
