My eSIM has no internet. What should I do?

Quick checklist to fix no connection at your destination.

Updated on May 13, 2026

An installed eSIM with no connection is almost always configuration, not a fault. Work through the steps below in order: each one rules out a cause, and most cases are solved in the first four.

Checklist in the right order

  1. 01

Confirm the country is in your plan

In My eSIMs, open the eSIM and tap Coverage and networks. A regional or global plan covers a list of countries; a local plan covers only its own country. Outside the list, the eSIM has no network.

  2. 02

    Turn the Wavee line on

iPhone: Settings › Cellular (or Mobile Data / Mobile Service), select the Wavee line and switch on Turn On This Line. Android: in your phone's SIM settings (Samsung: Settings › Connections › SIM manager; Pixel: Settings › Network & internet › SIMs), turn on the Wavee eSIM.

  3. 03

Turn on data roaming for the Wavee line

That is how the eSIM uses partner networks (iPhone: Data Roaming, on the Wavee line; Samsung: Settings › Connections › Mobile networks › Data roaming; Pixel: tap the eSIM › Roaming). Without roaming, the eSIM has no network abroad.

  4. 04

Set Wavee as the data line

iPhone: Settings › Cellular (or Mobile Data / Mobile Service) › Cellular Data (Mobile Data) and select Wavee. Android: set the Wavee eSIM as your mobile data SIM (Samsung: SIM manager › Mobile data; Pixel: SIMs › Your primary SIMs › Mobile data).

  5. 05

    Airplane mode for 30 seconds

Turn on airplane mode (Airplane Mode on iPhone), wait 30 seconds and turn it off. The phone searches for a network again.

  6. 06

    Restart the device

Turn it off and on again, and give it a few minutes to find a signal.

  7. 07

    Pick the carrier manually

In My eSIMs, check Coverage and networks for the country's local carrier. Then switch to manual network selection (iPhone: Settings › Cellular (or Mobile Data / Mobile Service) › Wavee › Network Selection › turn off Automatic; Samsung: Settings › Connections › Mobile networks › Network operators › turn off Select automatically; Pixel: Settings › Network & internet › SIMs › tap the eSIM › turn off Automatically select network) and choose that carrier. The list may take a moment to appear.

Do not delete the eSIM while you still need it. Once deleted, it usually cannot be installed again on the same device. Delete it only after the trip is over.

Symptoms and what they mean

It shows No Service right after installing

That is expected before you arrive: the eSIM only finds a network in a covered country. At home it stays without service, and that is not a fault.

It connects, but no site loads

Usually the wrong line is selected for data. On iPhone, keep Allow Cellular Data Switching (Allow Mobile Data Switching) off; on Android, automatic data switching: with them on, your data can move to your home SIM. If your eSIM uses an APN, it shows on the eSIM detail under My eSIMs; when it is not filled in automatically, add it under Access Point Names (Android) or, on the Wavee line, Cellular Data Network (Mobile Data Network) on iPhone.

Could the data have run out?

Check usage under My eSIMs. The figure is refreshed periodically, so it can be a few minutes behind actual use.
